Readable text and inpainting

GPT Image engines are the strongest choice when the image needs legible text, labels, or signage. GPT Image 2 is the only live engine that supports mask-based inpainting, so partial rewrites go through it.

Aspect ratios

Square, wide, portrait, cinema 21:9, panorama, and tower formats are available depending on engine. Nano Banana 2 covers the widest set, including extreme panorama and strip ratios.

Resolutions

Quality tiers run from low to ultra. High and ultra pull more credits but hold detail at larger print sizes. Nano Banana Pro supports 1K, 2K, and 4K; it drops the 0.5K tier.

Formats

Export PNG, JPG, or WEBP. PNG for lossless work, JPG for smaller social files, WEBP when you need both.

Exact aspect ratios and quality tiers differ per engine; the studio shows only the options each selected engine supports.

Edit and inpaint without leaving

Every live engine except Midjourney accepts an edit input. Send a reference image and a prompt, and the engine reworks the image while keeping the composition you want to keep.

For surgical changes, GPT Image 2 is the only live engine with mask-based inpainting. Draw a mask over the region to rewrite, leave the rest untouched. Useful for fixing one element in an otherwise-finished image without regenerating the whole thing.

The limitation worth naming: inpainting quality depends heavily on how consistent the surrounding context is. Large mask areas or heavy style shifts still produce visible seams. For those cases, a full image edit pass beats a local inpaint.

Five are live right now: Nano Banana, Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 1.5, and GPT Image 2. They don't overlap much. Nano Banana is the cheap fast one, Pro leans into texture, GPT Image handles readable text and is the only one with mask-based inpainting. Midjourney v7 sits in our config but stays disabled until that integration is finished, so we won't sell you something that isn't ready.

Nano Banana 2 vs GPT Image 2: which AI image model wins?+

It depends on the job. GPT Image 2 leads on complex, legible text and photo realism, which is why it's the default for marketing visuals with labels or signage. Nano Banana 2 is faster (~20s vs ~1min), about a third of the credit cost, and competitive on stylized scenes. The reason both exist in one studio is so you don't have to guess; run the same prompt through each and compare.

Which AI image generator should you actually use?+
